Public health is the aspect of medicine that deals with the preventative rather than the curative aspects of health.  If an individual has an eye disease that impacts their ability to see and function normally, how can we minimize that impairment so it does not become a disability?  This can be accomplished by Low Vision Rehabilitation.
In addition to his optometric degree, Dr. Kinkade pursued a Master in Public Health (MPH), adapting his studies to concentrate on the prevention of disabilities related to vision impairments.
